FT NAVVISION Monitoring & Control System

1. Engines

FT NavVision Engine Monitoring

Catterpilar – MAN – MTU – Cummins - VolvoPenta

The system is equipped with a J1939/NMEA 2000 serial interface for monitoring of the engines. The engine data is displayed in a clear and unambiguous way. Alarm conditions are clearly notified by the system.

FT NavVision Engine in one glance gives “real time” information about engines, generators and tanks.

FT NavVision can reproduce all values coming from engines and generators.

Viewers

The user-interfaces for one or two engines are different in their basic layout.  The Single Engine Viewer can incorporate a switch panel for control of external equipment.  Instruments such as engine RPM, battery voltage, etc. can be viewed as analogue, digital or graphical to create Custom Viewers.

Single Engine Viewer

On a Single Engine Viewer (practical for one engine and one generator), 7 analogue, 2 digital instruments and 4 indicators can be shown.

Dual Engine Viewer

On the DualEngine Viewer (practical for two engines and two generators), 6 analogue, 2 digital instruments and 12 indicators can be shown.

Available data

Engine manufacturers have different thoughts about the amount of parameters shown and the way in which they are presented.  This has resulted in a selection of more than 40 different data and instruments per engine, and more than 50 for each generator, available within the FT NavVision software.

Communication

To receive and send data or instructions, FT NavVision can work with 16 COM-ports as standard.  The following protocol standards have been developed that can be used simultaneously:

  • NMEA communication

  • SAE- J1587/J1708

  • Cat-Link

  • Can-bus

  • 485-bus

  • nke-bus

  • Advantec-bus

  • WAGO-bus

  • Mod-bus

2. Alarm Viewer

The digital Alarm Viewer, an independent Viewer which can be used for all sorts alarms. The maximum number of alarms on one screen is 48. More alarms, or groups of alarms, are available on request.

Quantity of alarms

A stand-alone solution is possible if no further reproduction is desired.  The Alarm Viewer can be assembled completely according to the user's wishes. The minimum reproduction is a viewer with just one alarm, the maximum reproduction is 48 alarms.

Types of alarm

The Alarm Viewer has more possibilities to set up an alarm, but is always dependent on the external operation control and the set up proceedings inside the equipment.

Taskbar

The Alarm Viewer acts together with the Taskbar. This can be installed in such a way that, if there is no alarm situation, this disappears from the top of the display and is no longer visible.  Other applications can now use the full screen completely.

Alarm zone

If one or two alarms occur, they will be placed into the alarm zone of the Taskbar. If more alarms occur, the text will scroll along the alarm zone.  With more computers in a network, the alarms will appear on all other computers.  For each instrument and incoming value in FT NavVision, it's possible to adjust an alarm. There is no limit to this.

Sound alarm

A sound alarm is an alarm with a lower priority than an administrator alarm. This alarm will be spread over any FT NavVision network you might have.  When an alarm situation presents itself, an alarm will sound, depending on the settings of your Windows platform.

Shut down alarm

With the option "shut down alarm" it is possible to, in combination with a Wago module, switch equipment either on or off the instant an alarm occurs.

Administrator alarm

An administrator alarm is the alarm with the highest priority. This alarm will spread over any FT NavVision network you have.
If an alarm situation occurs, this alarm makes her appearance at every PC connected to the network.

Alarm prevention

It is possible to set two criteria to prevent an adjusted alarm, for example; if you shut down the engine, the alarm will not be activated for a while, depending on what is previously set.

3. Switch Viewer

The 24 switches are an addition to the standard viewer. These switches can be assigned to any equipment the client might have.
Their names and groups can also completely be determined by the client and/or installer.

Functions

A general overview of not only the functioning on any available deck-, navigation- and internal lighting, but also many other power-consumers and generators, engines etc is possible.
The control over equipment (turned on or off) can be held by use of virtual buttons, enabling you to view their status in a single glance.

Freedom of design

The Switch Viewer gives you, as user, the ability to arrange the switches' positioning.
By assigning certain functions to e.g an engine or generator, this viewer can be configured to suit your every need.

Combination

Of course it's possible to assign external switches a digital equivalent, enabling you to operate these switches, which might be several meters away from the bridge, from behind your PC.

I/O Communication

The I/O communication is handled using the WAGO-750 system, which is directly connected to FT NavVision®.

4. Tanks

Configuration

The tank viewer disposes over 8 or 20 graphical reproductions and 4 instruments which can be adjust analogue, digital and graphical.  Further there are two indicators and two adjustable instruments.

Set up values

All graphical reproductions can be set up in 16 different colors.  Besides it is possible to place all available tank viewers in these reproductions.  All values will be reproduced in percentage.

If you prefer it is possible to use the tank viewer for other purposes.  This also implies that other available values can be placed in the graphical reproduction.  For the other instruments it holds that they can be used for every available value.

The aforementioned depend on availability.

Appellation

Concerning appellation there is a choice of many tank names which are all standard available within the package.  It is, also, possible to give your own names to tank values.

Reproduction

Reproduction of tank content is in percentage.  For all other values corresponding the given information.

Connection

To let a tank level reproduction correct take place, there has been taken an item inside the FC Configurator to configure tank content at an easy manor.  Then it is possible to compose practically every curve.  Likewise a tank that is made in the Hull and thus represents a certain curve.

Other Information

When you have purchased other modules of FT NavVision, it is possible to reproduce these data in the same display.

This will profits you with the disposal of tank and other information at all circumstances.

Connection to sensors

Tank measurement will be done by several kinds of sensors.

In general, these are sensors which give between 4 and 20 mA.

In this case FT NavVision has the possibility to execute a control over the ability of sensors and eventual wire bursts.

FREE TECHNICS

FT NavVision can be deployed in various roles. Be it displaying data transmitted from various sensors, controlling your equipment or reliable alarm monitoring under all circumstances, FT NavVision can pull it off.

Additional FT NavVision® basic, advanced and graphic Viewer, consisting of:
- Viewer with 6 moveable and sizable instruments
- Viewer with 13 adjustable instruments
- Viewer with 15 graphs for history
- 6 instruments sizeable and all instruments adjustable
- Alarm settings per instrument and value
- Logging per value
- Colour palette with three tuning controls

Compression
A new compression technique is utilised to reduce the size of the storage files.
-File sizes are on average 20 times smaller than usual.
-Display and update of charts is considerably faster.
-The charts have a resolution comparable with paper charts.

The benefits of this format are:
-High quality reproduction
-No charts with annoying overlapping chart margins
-A favourable performance to price ratio.

Communication with GPS
Transfer of waypoint information to and from a GPS is quick and easy with FT NavVision®. The communication module of the waypoint manager will accept most current GPS receivers.

Autopilot control
A route created using the charting functions of FT NavVision® can be used to control an autopilot using an NMEA connection.

For the autopilot of nke Electronique autopilot there are more advanced control options. Via a serial link (RS232), there are virtual control options available from the PC screen.

Instruments
All instruments have the possibilities to, individually, use all available data coming from NMEA inputs. If you do not have a license for engine data, it will not be possible to read out engine data. Other types of instruments that communicate using NMEA data can easily be interfaced with FT NavVision®.

Alarms
For each displayed parameter, FT NavVision® has the capability to set a maximum and a minimum alarm. This can be performed in such a way that general and urgent alarms can be set up independent of each other.
Further to this, each alarm can have a shut down command associated to it for equipment protection; an engine or generator can be switched off.
An output alarm is available to send out a horn-signal or other signal of your choice.

Logbook
All alarms, on and off switch movements and sensor failures are recorded in a logbook and can be viewed on request by the user. This logbook records the history from the moment of installation.

Standard
The Engine Viewer is initially in a standard layout, but can be easily configured to the owner's preferences for style, colour, size, shape and selected to analogue, digital or graphical display.

Reproduce data
Each data reproduced by means of an instrument can be shown in different ways as described above. You can simply switch by pushing a single button.
